To all the Johnny Depp fans out there, the time has come for you guys to grab a tissue. It may be hard for many of you to digest this, but it seems like Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer are planning to reboot the hit Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with the sixth film.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, iconic producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that the next Pirates of the Caribbean film would reboot the franchise.
“It’s hard to tell. You don’t know, you really don’t know,” Bruckheimer began. “You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”
Yes, Bruckheimer is talking about Tom Cruise for Top Gun. When it comes to Cruise, it is hard to mess with him. The guy is undoubtedly one of the greatest action stars on Earth, and he has several movies lined up for the future. Among his future projects is the direct sequel to Top Gun: Maverick. It means the production of Maverick’s sequel depends upon Cruise’s schedule. On the other hand, we have Johnny Depp, whose last movie was Jeanne du Barry (2023). Depp’s last project from mainstream cinema was Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). His last POTC film was Dead Men Tell No Tales, which came out in 2017.
It will be interesting to see in which direction Disney will head with the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean reboot project. In addition, rumors about a POTC film featuring Margot Robbie are hot. However, Disney has not yet made an official announcement about Robbie’s film. Stay tuned for more updates.
