Nicolas Cage portrays a retired assassin who lives his life as a Caribbean beach bum in the latest trailer of The Retirement Plan, produced by Productivity Media and Darius Films. The forthcoming comedy action flick, written and helmed by Tim Brown, will hit the theatres worldwide on August 25.
Ashley (Ashley Greene) and her daughter Sarah (Thalia Campbell) seek the aid of the former’s estranged father, Matt (Nicolas Cage), when the mother-daughter duo comes under the radar of a dangerous criminal enterprise that threatens their lives. Before getting entangled in this mess, Matt lived as a beach bum on the Cayman Islands. After realising the danger, he comes to the rescue of Ashley and Sarah and starts taking out the bad guys one by one, making him also a target of crime boss Donnie (Jackie Earle Haley) and his lieutenant Lobo (Ron Perlman).
Soon, Ashley realises that her father is much more than an ordinary beach bum and has a secret past.
Cage recently appeared as an alternate version of Kal-El, aka Superman, in DCEU’s The Flash. Apart from The Retirement Plan, his other upcoming projects are Sympathy for the Devil, Dream Scenario, Arcadian, and Longlegs.
Signature Entertainment and Madman Entertainment will handle the film’s distribution. The trio of Doug Murray, Nicholas Tabarrok, and William G. Santor has produced the project.
