Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs Sets Itself Up For A Memorable Box Office Run

It seems like NEON’s relentless marketing and promotion for ‘Longlegs’ has paid off. The latest Nicolas Cage starrer nabbed $3.5 million in previews, marking the highest preview collection for NEON. Plus, the movie has minted over $10 million on its first day. According to several reports, the movie is set to rake in at least $20 million in its opening weekend. Given its impressive BO debut, the Osgood Perkins directional may end up earning more than $20 million in its opening weekend.

NEON looked pretty confident with ‘Longlegs’ right from the very beginning, proved by their aggressive marketing strategies for the movie. The production house has also signed Perkins for two more movies, which shows how confident the studio feels about the director.

Sydney Sweeney’s ‘Immaculate’ held the record for the highest Thursday preview gross ($1 million) and the highest opening weekend collection ($5.3 million) for NEON before ‘Longlegs’. Whereas ‘Longlegs’ may end up earning nearly $20-24 million in its opening weekend, which is a big deal for an indie movie production house and distributor like NEON.

‘Longlegs’ has received acclaim from critics, who have especially praised the performances of Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe. It has a ‘fresh’ score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 153 reviews. Cage has co-produced it as well. Stay tuned for more updates.
