Back in the year 2021, it was revealed that a small screen series adaptation of crime author Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta novel series was in the works. The project was backed by Oscar-nominated actress Jamie Lee Curtis and filmmaker Jason Blum.
In the latest update related to the TV series adaptation of the Kay Scarpetta novels, it is now known that veteran Academy award winning Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis will star in the Amazon series.
Nicole Kidman will be essaying the lead role of the protagonist Kay Scarpetta and Jamie Lee Curtis will be playing the part of Scarpetta’s sister Dorothy. The series is expected to have two seasons with eight episodes each. Nicole Kidman would also be executive producing the show for the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform.
Patricia Cornwell’s crime novel series revolves around the character of Dr. Kay Scarpetta, who is an extremely smart and attractive Chief Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia at Richmond and one of the top forensic pathologists in the country. She uses forensic technology to investigate and solve tricky crime cases. The character was said to be inspired by real life retired Virginia Chief Medical Examiner Marcella Farinelli Fierro.
Jamie Lee Curtis is still riding high following her critically acclaimed performance in the widely acclaimed multiverse action movie ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ for which she has been nominated for the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ at Oscars 2023. Her forthcoming acting roles include the horror comedy film ‘Haunted Mansion’ and Eli Roth’s sci-fi flick ‘Borderlands’.
