Hollywood star Nicole Kidman will now star in her next big screen adaptation of a thriller novel, after ‘Big Little Lies’ and her upcoming ‘The Undoing’. Amazon Prime Video has green-lit the screen adaptation of Janelle Brown’s upcoming thriller novel ‘Pretty Things’ for streaming on its platform, which will star Kidman as one of the lead protagonists. Kidman will also produce the series for Amazon Prime Video, under her production banner, Blossoms Films. Blossom Films is owned by Kidman and partner, Per Saari.
Amazon Prime Video won the adaptation and development rights for the project after a hard-fought battle against multiple bidders in competition to grab the buzzy novel for adaptation. The book, published by Random House, will be released on 21st April.
Reed Morano, director of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, will direct and executive produce the new series for Amazon Prime Video. Janelle Brown will write the screen adaptation of her novel, as well as executive produce.
The narrative of Pretty Things is centred on the lives of two diverse women, whose destinies intertwine in the unlikeliest of ways. It is a suspense thriller with hints of dark and edgy to the plotline.
Nicole Kidman and Amazon Prime Video are collaborating on another book-to-screen adaptation, that of Samantha Downing’s My Lovely Wife.
