Nightmare OTT Premiere For Amazon Prime Video’s Bell Bottom!

The Akshay Kumar starrer, Bell Bottom, finally dropped on Amazon Prime for streaming at 12 AM today… And it has been a nightmare scenario for the OTT platform. While quite a few people have managed to watch the film on the streaming platform, many Amazon Prime subscribers have been finding it difficult to watch the movie – claiming that the film appears to be “squished” on whichever device they try to view it from. Disgruntled Prime Video users have gone on Twitter to voice their complaints at Amazon Prime Video and the situation still remains unsolved for many of the OTT subscribers.

According to Twitterati, Amazon Prime Video has dropped the film onto the platform without the proper aspect ratio enhancements. To view any movie (or TV series) on a modern handheld device or TV, the movie needs to released with an aspect ratio of 16:9 or with a 16X9 enhancement. But it seems that Prime Video has forgotten to release the film with the aforementioned aspect ratios and the movie is currently streaming in the original theatrical aspect ratio.

So it is no wonder that the subscribers are taking to social media – many of them see two thick black borders around the movie rather than the content. Apparently, trying to enhance the viewing device’s aspect ratios (be it phone, tablet, laptop, TV, etc.) has helped a bit, but the movie is still not in a condition to be viewed by a huge chunk of the desi audience. Check out the tweets below:

While Bell Bottom has managed to get some mixed to good reviews from the rest of the Amazon Prime subscribers, this nightmare situation will be a black mark against the prestigious OTT platform. Hopefully, by the time this article has been posted, Amazon Prime will have rectified their error. If not, well… The nightmare continues.
