Zee5 announced its latest upcoming project with award-winning directors Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari helming it. This new venture will feature the untold story of India’s legendary tennis pair – Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes and how they brought Indian tennis on the world map.
Both Paes and Bhupathi hinted about a comeback on their social media accounts four days ago. Paes wrote on his Twitter, “22 years ago today, we became the first Indians to win @Wimbledon. As two young boys all we dreamt of was making our country proud! 🎾🌱🏆 @Maheshbhupathi #LeeHesh”
To which Bhupathi replied, “Hmmm ..That was special!! Do you think it’s time to write another chapter? @Leander #LeeHesh”
The duo’s incredible journey will be brought to life on screen by filmmaker couple Nitesh Tiwari (‘Dangal’, ‘Chhichhore’) and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (‘Nil Battey Sannata’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’). It will capture their story with all its ups and downs.
This latest project on Zee5 will offer the audience behind the scene narrative of how Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes went to become the first Indians to win Wimbledon 22 years ago.
Both Nitesh and Ashwiny are known for their incredible works and with them helming this Zee5 project it promises a good watch. While earlier sports dramas have had their highs (‘Mary Kom’) and lows (‘Saina’), it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
