The Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Saturday Night‘ is a film that has been teased for a release but then postponed, reportedly so many times that it has fans more concerned for the film than confused. The comedy entertainer finally has a release date and is set to release on November 4th.
While the reason ‘Saturday Night’ skipped its previous release date is not known, why it has chosen a Nov 4 release seems to have a ‘Padavettu‘ connection. Also starring Nivin, ‘Padavettu’ is an ambitious film, produced by music label Saregama’s film production division Yoodlee Films along with Sunny Wayne Productions. The new release date, much like the earlier release date, would put a gap of 2 weeks between the two big releases. Would 2 weeks be enough? Considering the fact that a film earns a huge portion of its lifetime collections in the first two weeks, yes.
‘Saturday Night’ also costars an ensemble cast of Siju Wilson, Grace Antony, Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, and Saniya Iyappan among others, and is Roshan Andrrews directorial. With the director-actor duo of Roshan-Nivin’s last release being the hit big-budget period film ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’, this film too has huge hopes riding on it.
Adding to the hype is the fact that the film will be a story of four friends. Why the hype? One word- ‘Premam’. One of the biggest hits of Malayalam cinema, the film was Nivin’s last outing that had him in a ‘friends flick’. While the movie was largely about his love life during the different stages of his life, his rapport with his on-screen friends made up for some of the best and most memorable moments of the movie.
While Nivin’s last outing ‘Mahaveeryar‘ was a commercial failure, the actor-producer still has a very impressive lineup, one of them being the much-awaited ‘Thuramukham’. It is hoped his first release this month ‘Padavettu’ will mark the start of a spree of hits, something that an actor and a risk-taking producer of his stature deserve.
