No Indian Language Remake Rights Acquisition For ‘Kill’ Yet!

Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, the banners behind the much talked about latest film ‘Kill’ have issued a joint statement regarding the remake rights for the film.

According to this statement they confirm the English language remake rights having been sold but that’s not the case for Indian language remake rights. The latter rights have not been acquired by any party as of yet.

This snubs all the recent speculations of ‘Kill’ Telugu rights (or for that matter any other Indian language) acquisition that had been doing rounds.

‘Kill’ has been a hot potato recently for its uniqueness and freshness in the action genre, something that Indian film industry hasn’t seen as of yet. But that hasn’t translated into its box office collection that has been underwhelming to be honest.

Still ‘Kill’ has garnered a whole lot of attention and the remake rights will be highly sought after from other South Indian film industries. And therefore there’s a “yet” in the official statement issued by the production houses.

For those who are unaware, English language remake rights for ‘Kill’ have been acquired by production companies Lionsgate and 87Eleven Entertainment, who have collaborated on the popular ’John Wick’ franchise.
