Nolan Becomes The First Director To Win Knighthood

Talking about cinematic achievements, down the line, Nolan will definitely be one of the very best of all time, and the career he is having will always be a filmography to remember. It’s not just his hits but also the cinematic vision and ideas he has; Nolan deserves all sorts of appreciation.

Now, Oppenheimer was a favorite choice for most award shows, especially for the Best Director category. And just when we thought Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTA would be enough for Nolan, he is now gifted with another award that is practically beyond cinema.

Christopher Nolan is now Sir Christopher Nolan.

Nolan is receiving knighthood for his achievements in cinema, and his wife, Emma Thomas, also received damehood for her contributions.

Ironically, Nolan’s one of the favorite actors, Michael Caine, with whom he has worked eight times in his career, received his knighthood as early as 2000. Though the knighthood winner’s list for actors is quite long, featuring iconic names such as Ian McKellen or Patrick Stewart, in terms of directors, it is practically non-existent.

So, we can label Nolan as the first director to win the award, quite an exciting update for the fans.

The journey of Oppenheimer has ended, but Nolan is now working on his next project, though there is practically no update about the future project.

“Ideas come from everywhere. I’ve done a remake, I’ve made adaptations from comic books and novels, and I’ve written original screenplays. I’m open to anything. But as a writer and director, whatever I do, I have to feel like I own it completely. I have to make it original to me: The initial seed of an idea may come from elsewhere, but it has to go through my fingers on a keyboard and come out through my eyes alone,”

Later, he added, “And the answer is always the same. For me, I do one thing at a time, and I put everything into it obsessively, and the film is not finished. Well, the way I like to put it is, the audience finishes the film.”
