Nomadland Finally Gets a Release Date in India!

Nomadland has won a plethora of awards on a global scale. It won the Golden Globe for ‘Best Picture Drama’ and Chloe Zhao won Best Director. It has 6 Oscar nominations and 7 BAFTA Nominations. Searchlight Pictures is set to release the critically acclaimed Nomadland in India on 2nd April.

Nomadland is written and directed by Chloe Zhao. Frances McDormand (also known for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Fargo), David Strathairn. Swankie, Linda May, and Bobby Wells play fictionalised versions of themselves. The movie is based on Jessica Bruder’s book ‘Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century’. Frances McDormand, Peter Spears, and Chloe Zhao have also pitched in as producers along with Mollye Asher and Dan Janvey.

Nomadland is the story of Fern who loses her job after the US Gypsum Plant in Empire, Nevada shuts down and she decides to sell most of her belongings to get a van and travel across America and look for work.

Theatres have reopened but the continuous increase in the number of cases has caused a lot of harm to the cinema chains and the numbers are starting to dwindle again. Big production houses like YRF. Hombale and others along with big star action flicks have been announced to resurrect this industry.

It is good to hear that theatres will also be running critically acclaimed titles like Nomadland so that it will pique the curiosity of the audiences and the nominations and accolades speak for themselves.

Nomadland has had a very limited release and has mostly been the subject of film festivals where it has got a lot of love and appreciation and it will finally be available to the Indian audiences in theatres on 2nd April.
