Not Amazon Prime, But Disney+ Hotstar Grabs OTT Rights Of Liger?

Not so long ago, there were several reliable reports claiming that the post-theatrical digital streaming rights of Vijay Deverakonda‘s Liger were close to being acquired by Amazon Prime Video. It was reported that Amazon Prime Video was offering a whopping Rs 60 crores for the digital streaming rights of Liger. But the latest updates are implying that Amazon Prime’s deal with the makers of Liger has fallen apart.

As per reports, the post theatrical OTT streaming rights of Liger are acquired by Disney+ Hotstar. It is said that Disney+ Hotstar shelled out as much as Rs 65 crores for the OTT rights of Liger. That said, this is just a speculation on social media for now. Neither Disney+ Hotstar nor the makers of Liger have officially commented on the same. But if Hotstar really is acquiring Liger for a whopping amount of Rs 65 crores, this could well be one of the biggest OTT deals in Telugu cinema.

Interestingly enough, it is also heard that Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the post theatrical digital streaming rights of Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati’s Bheemla Nayak as well. As it appears, Disney+ Hotstar has amped up the content acquisition game big time and the OTT giant is looking to expand its footprint in the twin Telugu states by snapping up the digital streaming rights of mainstream biggies.

As for Liger, the action drama is directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film is billed to be a commercial potboiler, based on the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, Makrand Deshpande, and others play important roles in the film. Boxing legend Mike Tyson is playing a cameo role in the film.
