Looks like the nationalism and political wave in the digital space isn’t witnessing an end anytime soon. The next high profile political web series will be based on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, based on the book The Man Who Saved India, written by author Hindol Sengupta and published by Penguin Random House India.
The producers Sunil Bohra (Bohra Bros) and Shailesh R. Singh (Karam Media) who had bankrolled credible projects like Gangs of Wasseypur, Tanu Weds Manu, Mental Hai Kya and Jabariya Jodi have bought the rights for the adaptation in the digital medium.
“The web series will be about the journey of Vallabhbhai Patel – from his beginnings in Gujarat, his law exams in the UK, the return to India and his persistent quest for the Indian independence and how he went onto the earn the title Sardar from Mahatma Gandhi,” the author of the book added.
The makers will stay true to the essence of the book, that also raises important questions about the politics involved to not let certain facts out in the public. Apparently, it was on Gandhi’s request that Patel had made space for Nehru to become the PM in 1947.
