Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Show Teaser Trailer Out, Stars Ewan McGregor

The Star Wars franchise has spiced things up for the fanbase after dropping the teaser trailer of its highly anticipated miniseries, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The makers have already posted some official stills from the upcoming show via Twitter. And now, fans have got their hands on what they were craving for.

In 2018, the legendary space opera franchise cancelled all the planned Star Wars spin-off movies after witnessing the disastrous box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story. The leading man also expressed his desire to star in a future Kenobi project later that year. It took some but Disney finally granted the actor’s and the fans’ wishes by officially announcing the series at the D23 event in 2019.

The recently dispatched trailer showed Obi-Wan hiding on the planet Tatooine from the notorious Galactic Empire and keeping a close eye on the young Luke Skywalker. For those of you who have forgotten, let us remind you what happened in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). We know that Senator Palpatine successfully lured Anakin Skywalker to the dark side of the force and bestowed him a new identity, Darth Vader. And Obi-Wan defeated Anakin in a duel on Mustafar.

On the other hand, Anakin’s wife, Padme, gave birth to twins, Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan took the former and gave him to his uncle, Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton). And Leia was adopted by Senator Bail of Alderaan. The twins were separated to keep them safe from the Empire.

The forthcoming Obi-Wan series will take place ten years after the events of Episode III. The teaser trailer shows the Galactic Empire trying everything it can to hunt down the Jedi master to kill him as part of Palpatine’s Order 66. Plus, it shows Rupert Friend as The Grand Inquisitor from the Empire. Hayden Christen is also a part of this series. He will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, now known as Darth Vader. However, we didn’t see him in the teaser. We can expect the makers to reveal the character’s look in future trailers or tv spots.

Apart from Ewan McGregor, the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series treasures Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, Sung Kang, Indira Varma, Kumail Nanjiani, and many more performers in its cast. The series will release on May 25, exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service.
