‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Director Steven Soderbergh Thinking About an ‘Ocean’s 14’ Movie

Steven Soderbergh’s globally celebrated heist flick ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ would complete twenty years later this year. Soderbergh’s film has often been credited to have revitalized the heist films genre across the world.

The immense success of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ was followed by two sequels namely ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ and ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ directed by Soderbergh himself. Subsequently, a spin-off film titled ‘Ocean’s 8’ came out in 2018.

Actor Don Cheadle was part of Soderbergh’s first three Ocean’s movies. In his recent interview (via Entertainment Weekly), the actor has revealed that while filming his forthcoming film ‘No Sudden Move’, director Steven Soderbergh discussed with him an idea for a possible sequel to the Ocean’s film franchise.

Regarding his tete-e-tete with the acclaimed filmmaker, Cheadle stated that “But I just did a movie with Stephen and he said, ‘I think there may be a way to do it again. I’m thinking about it.’ And it didn’t go much further than that. But I don’t know; I don’t know who all would be in it. I imagine the main group of us would be in. It would be interesting to see.”

All the Ocean’s films until now have been a star-studded affair. Soderbergh’s first Ocean’s movie comprised actors like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, Casey Affleck, and Don Cheadle, etc. The second film included Catherine Zeta-Jones and the third film ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ was blessed with the presence of legendary actor Al Pacino.

In case Steven Soderbergh is seriously considering the idea to helm the next Ocean’s film, it would be immensely interesting to see which of the Ocean’s films’ cast members would be retained. Because the titular character Danny Ocean (essayed by George Clooney) was portrayed as dead in the last film.

If somehow the makers can convince the audience that Danny’s death was another one of his confidence tricks, then that would certainly be delightful news for Ocean’s film fans. Stay tuned for further updates on the film.
