While people are still catching up on one of Netflix’s biggest projects ’The Gray Man’, the global streaming giant has now announced not only a sequel but also a spin-off for the much talked about film.
Russo Brother’s ‘The Gray Man’ released this past weekend on Netflix and has been on the top streaming spot in 84 countries. After surviving an airplane crash, a shoot-out in the streets of Prague, and a chase along the roof of an exploding tram, the Gray Man will now face his greatest mission yet in the newly announced sequel.
Moreover, the Russo Brothers are also set to expand ‘The Gray Man’ cinematic universe with a spin-off that is also under works. Both the sequel and spin-off will take inspiration from the ongoing Gray Man franchise created by Mark Greaney who has written 11 novels on it till now with the 12th one set to publish next year.
‘The Gray Man 2’ script is being written by Stephen McFeely, who co-wrote ‘The Gray Man‘ and the Russos’ ‘Captain America’ and ‘Avengers‘ films. For the spin-off, ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Spiderhead’ scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Rees are working on the script and premise.
Talking about the expansion of ‘The Gray Man’ universe, Anthony Russo said, “I can’t get too specific about where we see the character going in the next movie because it’s so early days, but we designed a big ensemble in this film because we love ensemble storytelling.”
He further added, “Having a bunch of interesting characters creates a lot of possibilities in terms of where you’re gonna go in future storytelling, because there’s so many compelling characters played by so many compelling actors and they’re all worth further exploration.”
