Oke Oka Jeevitham : A Little Gem That Deserved More on SonyLIV?

Every year there would be so many little under-watched gems that deserved more attention and love from the movie watching audience. Some of the titles are less mainstream in its treatment, less promoted and way too niche to go big. While some of them have all commercial elements, but still manage to slip off the radar. This story sheds light on one such film from the Telugu cinema industry today. Oke Oka Jeevitham (in Telugu) and/or Kanam (in tamil). Simultaneously shot both in tamil and Telugu, the film released at the movies on 9th September and was also dubbed in kannada and Malayalam. Oke Oka Jeevitham is now streaming on SonyLIV.

This science fiction drama film is one of the very few time-travel related Indian films that struck an emotional chord. Written and directed by debutant Shree Karthick and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Oke Oka Jeevitham stars Sharwanand, Amala Akkineni, Ritu Varma and Nassar in main roles. Vennela Kishore and Priyadarshi play pivotal supporting parts in the Telugu version while Sathish and Ramesh Thilak replace the former two in Tamil version.

The film follows Aadhi and his two best friends and they decide to board a time machine to change their pasts and set their present right through a scientist. But time had other plans for them. What happens to Aadhi and his friends and how they manage to navigate back forms the crux of the story.

The film opened to extremely favourable critics and audience reviews. Amala and Sharwanand’s performances were praised alongside Vennela Kishore, Sathish and Ramesh Thilak’s in the tamil versions. The box-office returns were also decent despite clashing with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra. However, the film hasn’t been getting the love it deserves on streaming. Despite the story being so simple and extremely universal, it hasn’t managed to gather a crossover audience so far. Although the Telugu version of the film is trending on SonyLIV, for how good the film is it deserves more viewership.

For the unversed, the film is streaming in Tamil and Telugu with Kannada and Malayalam dub also being made available on SonyLIV. For our readers who are running out of movie suggestions for a family binge-watch, Oke Oka Jeevitham is our pick. Amala and Sharwanand’s banter is the film is bound to rip your tear ducts apart.
