Reese Witherspoon rose to global stardom through her work in the Legally Blonde series. She played the iconic, optimistic, and supremely confident Elle Woods in the film series. And now, she is all set to revisit the story through serving as a producer for the upcoming Legally Blonde spinoff show, which is currently in the works at Amazon MGM. Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production house will produce the show. Deadline first broke the news.
According to Deadline, no plot details about the spinoff show have been disclosed yet. Though, the series will expand the Legally Blonde universe with new characters and storylines.
Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are serving as the spinoff’s writers. They are best known to develop and executively produce ‘’Gossip Girl’. The duo is producing the Legally Blonde spinoff series via their Fake Empire banner, along with Lauren Neustadter and Reese Witherspoon (Hello Sunshine).
Amazon and Hello Sunshine are looking to develop a second spinoff series inspired from the Legally Blonde universe as well. The former studio is also involved in the development of Legally Blonde 3, which is being written by Dan Goor and Mindy Kaling.
Reese Witherspoon played the pink-obsessed Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (2001) and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003). Both films were commercially successful during their theatrical runs, earning over $141 million and $125 million, respectively. Stay tuned for more updates.
