Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is not only sweeping the award shows; it might get one more run at the box office. The Barbenheimer phenomenon is cooling down as both films collect their mementos.
Barbie, one half of the clash, managed to cross the billion-dollar mark as the second one’s ship sank ashore. However, that ship might see a boost soon.
Having an extended run during the award ceremony does a wonderful job, especially for a movie that is having a good time on the stage. Oppenheimer might capitalize on the festive fever of the award ceremony.
Currently, the film is standing at a comfortable $953M and needs more than an easy push to reach the $1B mark.
Though the update says it will be screened in 800 theaters in the USA, it isn’t enough to make the film reach the billion-dollar mark. Although it will be available again in IMAX, there is a sense of mistreatment.
Most of Oppenheimer’s box office collection came from the global box office, 65.7% to be accurate. Even countries like India, the UK, Germany, and France contributed massively to the numbers, but depriving those countries of such a cinematic experience is definitely an injustice.
