The official first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s much anticipated biggie ‘Oppenheimer’ has finally been released. The trailer first released in theatres, attached with James Cameron’s magnum opus Avatar. Two days after, Universal Pictures dropped the trailer on public domain today. And the trailer has got everything worth the hype.
The two-minutes-long official trailer of ‘Oppenheimer’ starts off with visuals of an explosion cutting back to Murphy’s regretful eyes. ” We imagine a future.. and our imaginings horrify us. They won’t fear it.. Until they understand it..and they won’t understand it untile they’ve used it ” says Murphy’s voiceover as the camera pans to his terror-stricken, confused, fearful face time and again as he looks at the atomic bomb.The entire trailer reveals the titular character to be uncertain of the aftermath of his own creation, foreshadowing the terror he unintentionally unleashed on the world. The trailer ends with a question : ” Is anyone ever going to tell the truth about what’s happening here? ”
The trailer reveals Cillian Murphy is his crowning big-screen glory. The actor seems to have sunk his teeth into the character and each of his nuances, reveal the confusion, terror and fear in him with regard to the introduction of atomic bomb, his own creation.
Oppenheimer features ‘Peaky Blinders’ star Cillian Murphy in the lead role of iconic physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the film.Oppenheimer is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and late Martin J. Sherwin. The film takes on the paradoxical life of an eminent scientist who risked destroying the world amidst world War II in order to save it. For the unversed, J Robert Oppenheimer was part of the elite group of scientists that was instrumental in the development of the nuclear bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II. He is known as the ‘Father Of The Atomic Bomb’, in memory of his achievements.
Oppenheimer is written and directed by Christopher Nolan and bankrolled by Universal Pictures. The film boasts an eclectic ensemble cast, comprising Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Matt Demon, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, Casey Affleck, Josh Peck, Jack Quaid, among a host of others. ‘Oppenheimer’ releases in theatres on 21st July, 2023.
