Oscar Isaac is in discussions to play Kurt Vonnegut in Amazon’s upcoming series, Helltown, according to multiple sources, including Deadline and Variety.
One of the Oscar winners at this year’s Academy Awards, Ed Berger, will helm and co-executively produce the series. His directional, All Quiet On the Western Front, bagged the Oscar for Best International Feature. Apart from Berger, the duo of Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey will serve as executive producers as well under the banner of Team Downey.
Berger’s All Quiet On the Western Front won four out of nine Oscar nominations in categories: Best International Feature, Best Music, Best Cinematography, and Best Production Design.
Helltown will be eight episodes long. The crime thriller series will revolve around Kurt Vonnegut before he was a renowned author. In 1969, he lived with his wife and five children on Cape Cod. However, his life changes dramatically after he becomes obsessed with the murder case of two young women whose bodies are found on the outskirts of Provincetown. He starts hunting for the serial killer and forges a dangerous connection with the prime suspect.
Apart from Team Downey, Isaac and Gena Konstantinakos will co-executively produce the series for Mad Gene.
