Oscars 2024: Ram Charan and Jr. NTR’s RRR get special recognition

The SS Rajamouli-directed Ram Charan and Jr. NTR film RRR was recognized with a special mention at the 96th Academy Awards earlier today for its contribution to the best stunt scenes in cinema history.

The 2022 period action picture directed by SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, and Ram Charan, acquires a unique place in the hearts of all movie buffs. The movie introduced Indian cinema to a worldwide audience and further went on to win other international awards, including the very 2023 Oscar for Best Original Song.

A year later, RRR has received another recognition from the Academy Awards. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, members of the cast of the upcoming movie The Fall Guy, joined the stage at the 96th Academy Awards, which were held early on March 11th IST, to award the best stunt sequences in motion pictures. They had also produced an edit that featured clips from some of the world’s top stunt scenes, including the period action movie starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR.

As previously stated, SS Rajamouli is the director of the epic action movie RRR. The movie tells the fictitious story of the relationship between two Indian rebels, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, and their battle against the British colonists.

When the movie was released, it was well-received by the public. The song Naatu Naatu even went viral on social media, making the movie a global phenomenon. MM Keeravani, the music director, won the Oscar for Best Original Score for this song.

In the snippets were Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, and many more from the ensemble cast of the movie. Under the auspices of DVV Entertainments, DVV Danayya provided the film’s funding, while KK Senthil Kumar was behind the camera. Veteran editor A Sreekar Prasad handled the film’s editing, and Vicky Arora handled the stunt choreography.
