Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja‘s Khiladi was supposed to release in May but the COVID second wave played a spoilsport. There are rumors that the movie will skip its theatrical release and opt for an OTT release. But the makers confirmed that it is not going to happen and they will wait for the theaters to open. Producer Havish in an interview revealed what has happened.
“It is true that we were approached. But we are strictly no for OTT. Ravi Teja is totally averse to releasing his films on OTT. Even I personally do not like releasing films on OTT. Films should be watched in the best possible theater with friends and family. If a movie released on OTT and theaters on the same day, I would prefer a theatrical experience even if I have the OTT subscription,” he went on to say.
“The OTT Business model will not sustain for a long time. They are burning cash right now. The day supply becomes high, the demand goes up and they will start calling shots. Theatrical business and OTT rights complimenting like how satellite rights do is the sustainable model,” the young producer revealed. Khiladi still has twenty days more to call it a wrap and will resume the shoot soon.
