As per data collected by FinancialExpress, Parikshit Dar, Co-founder and Director of BookMyShow revealed everything about this streaming platform. When asked about why did they choose do to enter the OTT market, Parikshit said, “The key focus for us has been to keep engagement going on the platform, because in the absence of events and movies, people had no reason to come to our website. The other was to discover if there are any revenue opportunities around this, either through ticketing or sponsorships. We introduced the Watchguide which helps viewers discover OTT content.” While comparing his platform with the existing ones, he said they have good knowledge about consumers’ consumption – their likes and dislikes. BMS platform will allow viewers to engage with the content using emojis and chats. They will also be able to post reviews and give ratings.
Earlier BMS announced BookMyShow Online, the platform that will allow people access to live events and performances across comedy, music and other performing arts. They will be hosting the first-ever virtual music festival in the country with the ‘Sunburn Home Festival.’
And lastly, when asked about if he positions himself in the crowded video streaming market, Parikshit replied, “We are not competing with video streaming platforms at all. They are catering to a vastly different segment of users. We are a company that encourages out-of-home entertainment, and are pretty confident that the sector will bounce back, and the online streaming platform will add value to our core offering.”
