OTT Might Be Stealing Your Data, Warns SP

Some OTT apps may appear to be expensive to many people. But the content on them is just too tempting to control. In such a situation, many people opt for cheap or free apps that promise them to give access to OTT content.

Needless to say, these third-party apps are illegal as they pirate shows/films from prominent OTT platforms.

Did you ever ponder their temptation to run an illegal app? Obviously it can’t just be social service. So what are they feasting upon?

According to the SP of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, they are stealing your sensitive data without your permission.

The SP stated this after multiple complaints from people in the district. There have been instances where people are losing their hard earned money solely due to their reckless fall for the temptation of free OTT.

Such apps come with fake links related to OTT platforms promising web series, movies, or television serials. The app will allow cybercriminals to access sensitive information on the device and swiftly withdraw money from users’ bank accounts.

Needless to say, these apps are a red flag through their mere existence of them and must be stayed away from because saving your data and money are much more important things than enjoying any film or series.

Anyways, if you fall into such a trap, then you must immediately call and inform officials at 1930.
