OTT Or Theatre? What’s The Future Of Shakeela’s Biopic Film

Acclaimed Kannada director, Indrajit Lankesh is all set to make his Hindi debut with the movie ‘Shakeela’. Although the film was to release in theatres, the COVID-19 pandemic has halted its release.

Now the film might be gearing up for an OTT release soon as after the launch of its Malayalam teaser, the director has been getting offers from various streaming platforms for its exclusive premiere.

‘Shakeela’ which stars Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Ester Noronha and Rajeev Pillai among others is a biopic on adult entertainment star Shakeela. The movie which is produced by Magic Cinemas has been dubbed in various languages, has completed production work and is ready for a release.

The makers have not taken a firm decision on the platform they’ll be releasing it on but an announcement is expected soon. The director believes that an OTT release will help the film reach a wider audience and guarantee its success.
