A total of three notable films are hitting the silver screens across the twin Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana this Sankranthi season. While Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju will be the obvious favorite for the Telugu audience, two other films, Ashok Galla’s Hero, and Ashish Reddy’s Rowdy Boys are also hoping to cash in on the Sankranthi release advantage. Here is all you need to know about the OTT partners of all these three Sankranthi releases.
ZEE Network had bagged the negative rights of Nagarjuna‘s Bangarraju a long while back. The media giant holds the theatrical, digital, satellite, and music rights of the film. Following the theatrical release, Bangarraju will be made available for streaming on ZEE5. It is known that the film is releasing in theatres on the 14th of January. The film has Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty, Ramyakrishna, and others in important roles.
Rowdy Boys, a campus drama featuring noted Telugu film producer Dil Raju’s nephew Ashish Reddy and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles is also hitting the silver screens on the 14th of January. The post theatrical digital streaming rights of Rowdy Boys were also bagged by ZEE5. The film will be made available for streaming on ZEE5 weeks after its theatrical release. The film is directed by Harsha of Husharu fame.
Then comes Hero, an action dram featuring Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s nephew, Ashok Galla and Nidhii Agerwal in the lead roles. This film is up for theatrical release o the 15th of January. The post theatrical digital streaming rights of Hero were apparently bagged by Disney+ Hotstar. The film is likely to premiere on the platform 4-6 weeks post its theatrical release. The film is directed by Sriram Aditya.
The promotional campaigns of all these Sankranthi releases are in full swing now. In all likelihood, these films will be arriving on OTT by the end of February.
