Pan Indian Films: Darling Brainchild Of South Indian Film Industry

Vijay Sethupati and Sundeep Kishan’s ‘Michael’ becomes the latest to join the list of pan Indian films. These pan India films are undoubtedly the hottest selling properties these days in the industry. And it’s the South Indian film industry that is its front runner. What was once considered regional in character and stereotyped has now taken the whole country by a storm with its uniqueness and grandeur.

While the first Indian film to be released in as many as eight languages was the 1959 Kannada film Mahishasura Mardini, it was with SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ franchise that it gained the form of a movement and now pan India films ever since their announcement enjoy a reputation of their own.

The grandiose and the scale, the multi starrer cast, epic storylines, magnificent background music and songs, intricate technical detailings and everything else of these tentpole movies make them stand apart from the rest.

This was witnessed in both the films of SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ and Prashanth Neel’s Yash starrer ‘KGF Chapter 1’. And nothing less is expected from their upcoming pan Indian films ‘RRR’ and ‘KGF Chapter 2’ respectively.

The same goes for Allu Arjun’s ’Pushpa’, Mohanlal and Suniel Shetty’s ‘Marakkar: Lions of the Arabian Sea’, Vijay Deverkonda and Ananya Pandey’s ‘Liger: Saala Crossbreed’, Ayan Mukerji directorial and multi starrer ‘Brahmāstra’, recently announced Vijay Sethupati and Sundeep Kishan’s ‘Michael’ and many more.

One cannot ignore but notice that almost all of these pan India films (with an exception here or there) have emerged from the South Indian film industry. That is why we said in the beginning itself that it’s the southern entertainment industry that is the front runner in the field and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that pan Indian films are their darling brainchild.

There’s one actor though who can be termed as a pan India star in true sense given the number of pan India films he has lined up for release in the near future. We are talking about the ‘Baahubali’ fame Prabhas who is a nationwide fave. His upcoming films like ‘Salaar’, ‘Radha Shyam’, ‘Adipurush’, ‘Project K or Prabhas 21’ are all pan India films, each with a spectacular ensemble cast.

Which pan India movie are you looking forward for the most?
