Her career was undoubtedly a sinking ship after some controversial films and statements, but Taapsee Pannu managed to revive it with recent successes, collaborating with SRK and Hirani.
While some have questioned the plot, Pannu successfully delivered a compelling performance. Amidst her wave of success, she is now gearing up for the sequel to Haseen Dillruba (2021) on Netflix.
The cast, much like the first installment, looks extremely promising, with Vikrant Massey, who is on a high after the success of 12th Fail, passing both the box office and critics’ tests. The pair will also be joined by Sunny Kaushal, and Jimmy Shergill will add some fresh flair.
As Pannu confirms, they wrapped up filming in December 2023, with the makers fine-tuning things during post-production. She is optimistic about Netflix announcing it soon as part of the 2023 slate.
While Netflix India sometimes delivers brilliance, it still lags behind Prime Video in the Indian diaspora. However, Netflix managed to pull off a wonder starting this year, from Curry and Cyanide to Killer Soup, and series such as The Hunt For Veerappan, Trial By Fire, and Kaala Paani, grabbing mass attention.
Expecting a similar response would be foolish, but miracles do happen quite frequently. The trailer and release date are yet to be announced, so tune into Binged for further updates on ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba’.
