A few months back, Binged informed its readers of the possibility that Paramount might be overtaken by Skydance.
Sadly we don’t have any update on that, but Peacock might merge with Paramount+.
See why are we saying this?
Paramount+ and NBCUniversal’s Peacock might team up to become stronger players in the streaming world. They’ve talked about working together, but they haven’t made a deal yet.
Paramount Global owns Paramount+, and Comcast owns NBCUniversal. They already work together on a streaming service called SkyShowtime in Europe.
People are wondering if a Paramount+ and Peacock team could compete better against big names like Netflix and Disney+. But for now, it’s just talk, and nobody from Paramount Global or Comcast is saying much about it.
Comcast’s CEO, Brian Roberts, said they’re happy with how things are going and aren’t rushing into big deals. Peacock has about 31 million subscribers, and Paramount+ has over 63 million globally. So naturally Paramount+ is in a better position but their merger would help customers from purchasing two separate subscriptions.
The streaming world is always changing, with companies looking for ways to stay ahead. Interestingly, talks of mergers, takeovers etc are also very much in vogue in India.
However, this should not be a concern for Indians as both Paramount+ and Peacock have a deal with JioCinema.
While Paramount+ and Peacock might team up, nothing’s certain in the streaming business. It’s a wait-and-see game to see what happens next.
