Back in 2019, when the Mission Impossible sequels were announced, Paramount Pictures decided to shoot Mission Impossible 7 and Mission Impossible 8 back-to-back so as to save a lot of production costs as well as valuable time. And we just recently received news, stating that Tom Cruise and his crew finished the shooting for both films in Abu Dhabi, yesterday. But now due to scheduling conflicts for Tom Cruise, he will not be available for the entirety of the shoot. So Paramount Pictures have decided to shoot the seventh sequel first and shoot the eight part of the film series later.
Everything was going good during early production, and the release date for the 7th film in the Mission Impossible franchise was set for July 23rd 2021. But then the pandemic hit and it stopped all production on set for months. Eventually by September 8th 2020, shooting started on the sets of Mission Impossible 7. The film was shot in multiple countries – Norway, Italy, England and U.A.E. Mission Impossible 7 and 8 director, Christopher McQuarrie is now returning with the cast and crew, from the Middle East to London for some finishing “touches” in the movie.
But thanks to the pandemic, it has messed with everyone’s work schedule – including Mission Impossible star and producer, Tom Cruise. The actor is needed for his promotional commitments for the sequel to 1986’s Top Gun, which is releasing this year on July 2nd. After completing his promotional obligations, Tom Cruise is expected to return to the set of Mission Impossible to start the production of the 8th film. Despite this major setback, Mission Impossible 8 is not losing its 2022 release date as of now.
Mission Impossible 7 is expected to drop in theaters November 19th 2021. Mission Impossible 8 is expected to premiere on the silver screen on November 4th 2022.
