Last year in February, it was reported that the globally acclaimed 1987 psychological thriller movie ‘Fatal Attraction’ was getting a reboot treatment for the Paramount Plus streaming platform alongside television versions of other Paramount films like ‘The Italian Job’ and ‘Love Story’. The ‘Fatal Attraction’ series was officially greenlit in November. Later, Lizzy Caplan (Castle Rock, Masters of Sex) and Joshua Jackson (Dr. Death, Fringe) were roped in to play the lead roles of Alex Forrest and Dan Gallagher, which were originally essayed by Glenn Close and Michael Douglas, respectively.
And now, the ‘Fatal Attraction’ series adaptation has rounded out its cast with the latest additions being Jessica Harper (The Old Man, See), John Getz (Bosch, Doom Patrol), Toks Olagundoye (Modern Family, Veep), David Sullivan (The Wilds, Sharp Objects), and Isabella Briggs.
The parent film ‘Fatal Attraction’ is a gripping thriller that revolves around a happily married man Dan (Michael Douglas) whose casual romantic encounter with a book editor Alex (Glenn Close) becomes his worst nightmare as the woman refuses to move on. On the contrary, she turns belligerent and starts stalking his family, leading to disastrous consequences. Based on his 1980 short film Diversion, the movie was directed by Adrian Lyne (Jacob’s Ladder, 9 1/2 Weeks). The film was nominated for six Academy awards; however, it couldn’t win any.
Before the ‘Fatal Attraction’ series adaptation, the film’s story was earlier also adapted into a play which was showcased in London’s West End in 2014. The series adaptation is being directed by Silver Tree, whose previous directorial credits include shows such as ‘The Flight Attendant’, ‘You’, and ‘Suits’, etc. The original ‘Fatal Attraction’ movie can be streamed on PPV basis on the Google Play and YouTube platforms in India.
