SonyLIV’s latest web series ‘Tabbar‘ has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The gritty and gripping thriller has garnered fulsome praise for its script, narrative, direction, and most of all, for its terrific performances. Talking about the performances, while lead star Pawan Malhotra is definitely the most compelling of the ensemble cast, young actor Paramvir Cheema is the break-out star of the series.
Almost every review of ‘Tabbar’ has showered praise on the good-looking and earnest actor. For Paramvir Cheema, the experience has been surreal and, in his own words, “eye-opening”. The actor plays the role of a bright but disgruntled cop in the show. Apparently, it was always his dream to play a cop on screen. To prepare for the role, Paramvir Cheema spent a couple of days with a friend of his father’s, who was an ACP.
The actor accompanied the real-life police officer for two whole days, observing him on the job. The experience inspired him to bring his own nuances to the character, along with learning the ropes of quick analysis and decision-making, a must for all cops. Phew, talk about method acting! Cheema’s efforts come through very well in his turn as Inspector Lucky in ‘Tabbar’
Interestingly, so good was his body language and rendering of the role that Paramvir Cheema would often be mistaken for a real cop while shooting on the streets. There were even instances when he received a salute from a real police officer who thought the actor was his colleague on the job. Even the common people on the streets would take Cheema to be a real cop. No wonder the actor has received such appreciation for his act from all quarters. Paramvir Cheema is quite a find, and the only way forward for him is up.
