Parasite Star Song Kang-Ho’s Show ‘Uncle Samsik’ Gets Release Date

Disney Plus has finally announced the release date for its much-talked-about new Korean drama, ‘Uncle Samsik’. The 16-part series will premiere on Disney Plus Internationally, on Hulu in the US, and on Disney Plus Hotstar in India on 15th May, 2024.

Korean series ‘Uncle Samsik’ will stream on Disney Plus in the episodic format. Five episodes of the series will be available at the time of the premiere on 15th May. Two episodes will release on Disney Plus every week thereafter. Finally, the series will conclude on 19th June with a three-episode finale.

The upcoming political drama ‘Uncle Samsik’ has generated massive buzz among K-drama fans owing to the fact that the series will mark the TV series debut of popular Korean actor, Song Kang-ho. Film fans will know him from his stellar films, Parasite, Broker, Memories Of Murder, The Host, Thirst, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Snowpiercer, Secret Sunshine, Secret Reunion, and many more outstanding films.

Song Kang-ho headlines the Disney Plus series in the titular role of Uncle Samsik, a shady fixer kind of character, who works alongside ambitious idealist Kim San (Byun Yo-han), to help turn his country’s fortunes around. The two forge ahead in their endeavor, locked in an uneasy but symbiotic alliance. Uncle Samsik is set in 1960s Korea, when the country was not as well-developed as it is now.

Uncle Samsik is directed by Korean screenwriter – filmmaker Shin Yeon-shick, who’s earlier made films such as The Russian Novel, Rough Play and Cobweb, among others. This is Yeon-shick’s web series debut as well.
