Parasite’s Bong Joon-ho Announces His Next Project

Amidst the rise of global cinema and the increasing limelight in the South Asian region, Bong Joon-ho is definitely an emerging star as the Parasite director took the world by storm. And now, there is a confirmed update about his next project.

Bong Joon-ho will now be working on a feature-length animation that will revolve around sea creatures. Much about the film isn’t out yet, not even the tone of it, so you can’t really expect something dystopian right away.

The hype about this project is real as it is, as of now, the costliest project in the South Korean film industry, with a price tag of ₩70B, which converts to $50M, not that pricey from a US standpoint.

In terms of its distribution, domestically, CJ ENM will be managing the Korean part, and talking about its global distribution, it will be done by Sony.

Additionally, people are extremely excited about his other project Mickey 17, which will feature Robert Pattinson. The star cast doesn’t end there as it will also feature Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

The film did take a hit after the strike; still, fans are very optimistic about the project.

And talking about his animation project, there isn’t any release window out yet, but at the earliest, it can be a 2025 film.
