Park Chan-Wook’s Next Is Probably A Remake Of A French Crime Thriller

It is being reported that Park Chan-Wook has started working on his next movie and it will be released pretty soon.

The mastermind has directed movies like ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Lady Vengeance’ and his movies have made a huge impact in the filmography of Korea as well as of the West.

Reportedly, this upcoming movie is titled, ‘The Ax’ and it is the remake of a French movie with the same name. The 2005 movie was adapted from a novel by Costa-Gavras. It is said to be a passion project for Park Chan-Wook. It is curious how he is going to blow the minds of audiences with a remake. We have seen great directors doing wonders with remakes, be it with Scorsese in ‘Cape Fear’ or Spielberg in ‘West Side Story’. Let us see what Chan-Wook cooks for us this time.

Actors like Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin will be starring in the movie. Lee Byung Hun has already worked with Park in movies like ‘Joint Security Area’ and ‘Three Extremes’. This will be the third time they work together. Park Chan-Wook’s last work was the highly acclaimed and honored movie ‘Decision To Leave’. He has also directed three episodes from the HBO show ‘The Sympathizer’.
