Ever since its grand theatrical release last month, Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film ‘Pathaan’ is all guns blazing at the box office. The spy action thriller movie has created history as it has now grossed the magical box office figure of a whopping Rs.1000 crores globally and is still aiming for more.
And in doing that, ‘Pathaan’ has become the fifth highest grossing Indian movie of all time. The top four highest grossing Indian movies as of now are ‘Dangal’, ‘Baahubali 2’, ‘RRR’, and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. As per a trade analyst, ‘Pathaan’ has grossed around Rs.623 crores in India and has collected around Rs.377 crores from abroad. And please note that these mind-boggling figures are without the film’s release in China, where Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ did wonders.
Now, it would be super interesting to see whether ‘Pathaan’ can surpass the global box-office figures of around a massive Rs.1200 crore held by Prashanth Neel’s ‘KGF 2’ and S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’. To be able to pull off another 200 crore internationally after almost a month since its theatrical release is difficult but not impossible. Especially considering the film’s unprecedented and unexpected run at the box office and SRK’s box-office pull.
And if, somehow, ‘Pathaan’ indeed crosses the coveted Rs.1200 crore box-office benchmark, then it will achieve the distinction of becoming the third highest grossing Indian film of all time. But that, only time will tell.
After completing its theatrical run, ‘Pathaan’ is expected to start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from 25th April onwards, that is, three months after it came out in cinemas.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ tell the story of a fearless RAW agent Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), who teams up with a mysterious rival agent (Deepika Padukone) to stop a former agent and terrorist Jim (John Abraham) from executing a brutal attack on the country. The film also has a wonderful cameo by Salman Khan as Tiger.
