Shah Rukh Khan has completed 30 years in Bollywood. The legendary actor commenced his voyage in the Hindi cinema with Deewana in 1992. After that, his top-notch portrayals of negative characters in Baazigar (1993), Darr (1993), and Anjaam (1994) helped him gain recognition among Hindi viewers. Since then, he has bestowed a large number of blockbusters in addition to taking his career to new heights. Baadshah last starred in Aanand L. Rai’s Zero in 2018. The film flopped badly and managed to collect only 186 crores against its 200-crore budget. And after taking a long hiatus from acting, the prominent Bollywood star is ready to return with a bang with the upcoming YRF spy entry, Pathaan.
After Dilwale’s release in 2015, SRK’s career faced severe turbulence. Let’s just say that Dilwale performed well because of the on-screen reunion of Shah Rukh and Kajol. Otherwise, there is nothing watchable in that terrible Rohit Shetty project. Before Dilwale, he also did Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). And these two flicks are very far from being hailed as cinematic masterpieces. It is safe to say that his poor movie choices hurt his career badly. That’s why a gripping thriller film like Fan (2016) found it hard to shine at the domestic box office. His first-ever collaboration with Imtiaz Ali, Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), also met the same fate.
Additionally, we witnessed King Khan starring in a string of cameos or extended cameos in movies like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), Dear Zindagi (2016), Tubelight (2017), and many more. But now, the entire SRK fanbase is on cloud nine after the announcement of Pathaan on social media. The actor also announced the title of his next project with Atlee, Jawan, almost three weeks ago. There is no denying that both these forthcoming projects will aid Khan in resuscitating his career.
YRF’s spy universe treasures a pretty good fanbase. Audiences have showered immense love towards all the previous entries in the franchise. Salman Khan has given two blockbusters: Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). And the duo of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff helped War (2019) in collecting more than 470 crores globally. Now, the stage is set for Pathaan. SRK cannot get any better opportunity to start his second innings in Bollywood than the upcoming YRF spy project.
Furthermore, Shah Rukh Khan has Jawan in his arsenal as well. Fans watched more than half of the actor’s face covered in bandages soaked with blood and loads of guns in the newly released teaser of the film. Some called it over-the-top. And the remaining ones loved the actor’s look and swag.
Pathaan became one of the hottest buzzes in Bollywood right after Shah Rukh Khan came on board with YRF for the movie. And the recent announcement of Jawan has definitely spiced things up in the industry. Prominent box office pundits and trade analysts have predicted bumper openings and outstanding theatrical performances for both the flicks. These predictions may come true considering the early promotions and the huge hype among the viewers for SRK’s on-screen return.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan will hit the theatres on January 25 next year. Stay tuned for more updates.
