Alt Balaji has announced that the show Paurushpur will be renewed for a second season soon. The release date and other details of the show have not been revealed now. But Sherlyn Chopra will play the lead and she has featured in a short teaser.
Sherlyn will play the role of Rani Snehalata in the sequel to the 2020 period drama. But chances are Shaheer Sheikh and other actors from the first season will not be returning to the show. Netizens think there has been a deterioration in the quality of the show and it has been quite belittled in the approach.
The first season of the show premiered on the 29th of December in 2020 on Zee5. It had a cast of actors like Shaheer Sheikh, Annu Kapoor, Milind Soman and Shilpa Shinde played the role of Rani Meeravati.
Even after being wholeheartedly an erotica, the principal focus of Paurushpur was storytelling, not mere voyeurism. But from Sherlyn Chopra’s announcement video, we can tell that it has been put into pejorative use by downgrading the story to voyeurism and nothing else.
The show will tell a story of love, lust, revenge, desire and power. The first season has been quite successful and there is a separate audience that is waiting for shows like this who will devour any cringy content for sex…which makes sure that season 2 might be successful as well. However, many people are not really satisfied and they want some good actors like Milind Soman or Annu Kapoor to confirm that there is at least something good in the show.
