A huge new update on filming for Peacemaker season 2 has arrived, signaling the beginning of production on one of the confirmed DC Universe projects for DC Studios. Although James Gunn’s DC Universe is mostly a reboot, some aspects of the DCEU filmography will appear in the new series. One of these is the TV series Peacemaker, starring John Cena, which was picked up for a second season before DC Studios’ debut.
While Gunn is at the moment filming the very famous Superman movie, he will also be starting work on another project this year. The actress who portrays Emilia Harcourt in the DC movie series, Jennifer Holland, also claims that Peacemaker season 2 will start its filming this summer.
Since it’s unknown if Peacemaker will return in 2024 or 2025, DC Studios and Max have not yet disclosed any official date for the show’s second season as of the time this story was published. Regarding to the news that Peacemaker season 2 would begin production this summer, Gunn has remained silent.
Though how Peacemaker season 2 fits into the wider DC Universe is still up in the air, the most important question is how much Gunn will be participating in the program this summer. Filming for the next Superman movie is highly expected to take at least three to a maximum of five months, extending till summer, since it began in late February. Despite being done with all of the scripts for Peacemaker season 2, Gunn has not made it clear to the audience if he would serve as the film’s director for any of the filmed episodes.
New directors are likely in the running for Peacemaker season 2, provided production begins while Gunn is occupied with Superman. With eight episodes in Peacemaker season 2, it’s certainly feasible that Gunn may step in at the last minute to helm the season finale, given that the Max series will also be filming in the autumn. The DC Universe fans will have to speculate as to whether Gunn will helm any episodes of the upcoming season until he makes a statement on the subject.
