Peacemaker Season 2 has finally received its first teaser. Created by James Gunn (co-head of DC Studios), the series stars WWE superstar-turned-actor John Cena as the titular protagonist — a controversial but highly jingoistic mercenary who seeks to achieve peace at any cost. Season 1 turned out to be a roller coaster ride for him in terms of characterisation, gradually making the character more mature, sensible, and caring.
The new 10-second teaser for Peacemaker Season 2 doesn’t reveal much — except that we see Cena wearing more publicly acceptable clothes, a guy smashing through a window after jumping from the roof of another building, Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt looking blood-soaked but ready to kick some serious a**, and Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo reminding Peacemaker that he’s a superhero now, and should act like one.
What is the release date for Peacemaker Season 2?
James Gunn, via his official social media handles, has disclosed that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. Indian viewers will be able to watch it on JioHotstar the same day.

What’s the plot for the second season?
Fans remain confused about Peacemaker’s current status — whether the series belongs to the DCEU or the DCU. Gunn has confirmed that the upcoming season will be an integral part of the DCU. It will be interesting to see how much of Season 1 remains canon, considering it originally premiered during the DCEU era.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter some time ago, Gunn reiterated the DCU’s canon rules, confirming the connection of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1 to the upcoming Creature Commandos and the broader storyline of the new universe. Here’s what he said:
“Yeah, they’re light canon. Peacemaker is pretty straightforward, with the exception of the appearance by a certain group [the former DCEU’s Justice League] at the end. They don’t exist yet. But the rule is: If we mention [something from the past] in one of the new DCU shows [and movies], then it happened. So that’s the way we’re dealing with it.”
Given the near one-month gap between the releases of Peacemaker Season 2 (August 21) and Superman (July 11), the former could potentially set the tone or foundation for the events of Superman.
Cast for Season 2
John Cena returns as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker. Alongside him, several familiar faces will also return, including Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Adrian Chase / Vigilante), Steve Agee (John Economos), and more. New cast members joining in Season 2 include Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), Sol Rodriguez (Sasha Bordeaux), and others.
Gunn has confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 will minimise multiverse elements, subtly focusing on the DCU transition. The season will explore the aftermath of Adebayo’s revelations about Task Force X and ARGUS, including Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) involvement. Plot threads from Season 1 and Gunn’s other DCU projects — such as Creature Commandos — are likely to intertwine, directly impacting Peacemaker’s story. Stay tuned for more updates.
