Pedro Pascal Joins Star-Studded Cast Of ‘Gladiator’ Sequel

Pedro Pascal, who is still basking in the glory of the phenomenal success of HBO’s widely acclaimed video game to small screen series adaptation ‘The Last of Us’, has now been cast in yet another high-profile project. The dashing Chilean American actor has been roped in for Ridley Scott’s eagerly anticipated ‘Gladiator’ sequel. But the details about which role Pedro Pascal will play in ‘Gladiator 2’ are not known yet.

The main cast of the ‘Gladiator’ sequel already boasts of some talented performers including the Oscar-nominated Irish actor Paul Mescal (Aftersun) in the lead role. The star-studded sequel also features Oscar winner Denzel Washington (in an undisclosed role), Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (as the villain Emperor Geta), Connie Nielsen (as Lucilla – Maximus’ former love interest), and ‘Stranger Things’ actor Joseph Quinn (as Emperor Caracalla), amongst others.

The yet-untitled ‘Gladiator’ sequel will revolve around Paul Mescal, who will play the role of Lucilla’s son Lucius and Commodus’s nephew. In the parent film, Lucius’s character was saved by Maximus (Russel Crowe) and the incident left a lasting impact on Lucius.

Like the first film, ‘Gladiator 2’ will also be directed by veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott (‘Alien’, ‘Blade Runner’) himself. The ‘Gladiator’ sequel’s story will be set many years after the events shown in the first film featuring Russel Crowe as the warrior slave Maximus. ‘Gladiator 2’ is set for a theatrical release on 22nd November 2024.

The in-demand actor Pedro Pascal’s casting in the much awaited ‘Gladiator’ sequel has given even more star power to Ridley Scott’s ambitious project. After struggling for almost twenty years, Pedro Pascal shot to fame through his role in the globally acclaimed ‘Game of Thrones’ series and as a DEA agent in the superhit Netflix series ‘Narcos’. Later, he went on to star in ‘The Mandalorian’ series and in some films like ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, ‘The Equalizer 2’, and ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’.

Pedro Pascal will next be seen in a western short film titled ‘Strange Way of Life’ co-starring Ethan Hawke, Ethan Coen’s road-movie ‘Drive-Away Dolls’, and in HBO’s upcoming true crime limited series ‘My Dentist’s Murder Trial’ co-starring David Harbour.
