People Complaining To Netflix & Imtiaz Ali For Chamkila…Why?

Netflix India just gave us what will remain one of the best films of the year or even subsequent years. Needless to say, we are talking about Amar Singh Chamkila. The movie is indeed great and thankfully it is getting the appreciation it deserves.

But, the audience is still unhappy. The crybabies can’t help but complain against Chamkila’s release to Netflix India and Imtiaz Ali. Why are they doing so?

Precisely because the movie didn’t get a theatrical release. The audience loved the movie so much that they craved a big screen experience for it.

But, should their wish be fulfilled?

Hell no.

You see, we are not pointing at anyone. Those who are calling out the lack of theatrical release may very well visit the big screens. But, our audiences are crybabies.

They would complain about the lack of good originals from mainstream Bollywood. But, they would refuse to watch the same good films in cinemas and rather save them for OTT or piracy.

Let’s consider the case of Laapata Ladis or even Merry Christmas. They are fundamentally good films with no nepotism. They got great reviews too. Did the audience give them box office numbers?

Even talking about Imtiaz Ali. Now Tamasha and Rockstar are cult classics but what about their box office numbers? Dismal, isn’t it?

Thus, it was a very very rational decision on the part of Imtiaz Ali and Netflix India to not release the movie on the big screens because people appreciate movies like Gadar 2 in cinemas. They would simply refuse to watch the tragedy of a Punjabi singer who was shot dead by people whom we are still not sure about.

So, we appreciate the emotions but if we want filmmakers like Imtiaz Ali to survive then Chamkila was meant for Netflix release.
