Fans of Percy Jackson And The Olympian Series will be delighted to know that its author Rick Riordan’s next ‘The Kane Chronicles’ series has been snapped up for book to screen adaptations as feature films. And guess which platform has picked up adaptation rights? Netflix, the streaming giant with deep deep pockets! What’s more, Rick Riordan himself will be in charge of developing the feature film adaptations of The Kane Chronicles series for Netflix.
Rick Riordan announced the news on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. The deal, as per Riordan, had been in the works since October, and it is only now that the author felt free to announce it to the world.
The Kane Chronicles mirrors Riordan’s love for spinning absorbing yarns out of mythology. While the Percy Jackson series was nestled in Greek and Roman mythology, The Kane Chronicles is steeped in Egyptian mythology. The three-book series consists of the first, ‘The Red Pyramid’, followed by ‘The Throne of Fire’ and ‘The Serpent’s Shadow’.
Rick Riordan is also developing the Percy Jackson novels as a series for the streamer, Disney Plus. Earlier, the first two Percy Jackson films were adapted as movies for the big screen by Fox Studios. Chris Columbus directed the 2010 Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief while Thor Freudenthal directed the 2013 Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
