Netflix has dropped the trailer of its upcoming drama film ‘Persuasion’ based on Jane Austen’s sixth and final novel of the same name, published six months after her death in 1817. Helmed by Carrie Cracknell, ‘Persuasion’ will release on 15th July, 2022.
The trailer begins with how Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson), an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities, was persuaded to give up her soulmate Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis) with whom she was almost married.
Anne lives with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy. While his father is obsessed with himself, her sister is a little arrogant and proud. Eight years after giving him up she still misses him and hasn’t yet moved on.
But things take a turn when dashing Captain Wentworth re-enters in her life and who were once exes now become friends, which for Anne is worse. But there’s one other suitor (Henry Golding) for Anne who is not just a flirt and hard worker but also rich.
Anne is now caught up and needs to choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances. Could this be Anne’s second chance at happiness? Or will the unexpected attentions of a smoldering newcomer present her with a completely different future?
Carrie Cracknell makes her feature debut with ‘Persuasion’ starring Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, Henry Golding, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce and Richard E. Grant. The film is similar in style to Enola Holmes and promises Regency delights with a modern twist.
‘Persuasion’ will premiere only on Netflix on 15th July, 2022.
