Peter Morgan Planning An Adaptation Of Popular Stage-Play ‘Patriots’

British playwright and screenwriter Peter Morgan has said that he is now planning for a film adaptation of his popular stage-play ‘Patriots’.

Peter Morgan is known for his masterpieces in the field of drama as well as in the movie industry. He has famously written Bohemian Rhapsody, Rush, The Other Boleyn Girl, Hereafter and many other movies. His most recent and popular work was the Netflix show ‘The Crown’ which tells the story of Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s long reign. The first season premiered in 2016 and the latest season came out only last year. While there were speculations that Morgan will soon be coming with another season of ‘The Crown’, it seems more likely that his next project will be something else.

‘Patriots’ tells the story of Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky, and the eventual decline of the Soviet Union. It also shows the rise of Vladimir Putin as the deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg and the rapid change in Russian politics with the power going to oligarchs. The Broadway play ran for 12 weeks and it also went on to be the first Broadway production from Netflix. People speculate that in the production deal, the movie adaptation rights of the play were also acquired by the platform. Peter Morgan’s chemistry with Netflix makes it seem nothing of surprise if the movie is made for Netflix.

While ‘The Crown’ had previously teased a new season, which will also go back in time to tell the story of Victoria’s death, fans are now excited for a new and spectacularly unique project with such political insights. Fans wait eagerly for ‘Patriots’.
