Pharrell Williams & Focus Features To Create A LEGO Animated Biopic

Grammy Award-winning artist Pharrell Williams has partnered with Focus Features to develop a LEGO animated film, titled ‘Piece by Piece’, about his life. According to the production house, the upcoming animated biopic will “set audience’s imaginations free.” It promises to defy expectations and genres, and promises to transport viewers into the world of LEGOs where anything is possible.

Morgan Neville will helm Piece by Piece. He is best known for helming acclaimed documentaries like Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (2018), They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead (2018), and Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain (2021). He will also co-produce the project with Williams, Caitrin Rogers, Shani Saxon, and Mimi Valdes.

Neville revealed that Pharrell Williams approached him about his LEGO animated biopic nearly five years ago. “I’m grateful to our partners at Focus Features and the LEGO Group for their belief in our crazy mission. We assembled an incredible team of creative collaborators to help make a new type of film. I can’t wait for people to see it.”

Pharell Williams has also thanked Focus Features for believing in his crazy and innovative idea of making a LEGO movie based on his life. He has bagged 13 Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards: one for Best Original Song in 2014 for Despicable Me 2 and another one for Best Picture in 2017 for Hidden Figures. In addition, he has given voice performances in animated flicks like The Grinch (2018) and Sing 2 (2021). Piece by Piece will be released worldwide on October 11, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
