In the ‘golden age’ of streaming, one Indian broadcasting channel is breaking the norm; by planning to create original films and premier them on television. This new Telefilm, aims to keep their network’s subscriber base satisfied and at the same time offer a new variety of broad new content unlike never seen before. The first of these films is expected to be ‘Footfairy’, which will premier on &pictures channel, next month.
This TV first film is set to be a psychological thriller which will explore the dark side of obsession. Set in Mumbai’s criminal underbelly, the dark crime film will follows a cat and mouse game between a CBI officer and a serial killer who has a very unique fetish. The film is directed by Kanishk Varma, who also penned the project.
Actors Gulshan Devaiah and Sagarika Ghatge star in this thriller. They had prepared for over two months for the role, researching and meticulously documenting about people related to their roles so as to get even the minute nuances right. Gulshan portrays the aforementioned CBI officer, which is a new role for him. He is excited and can’t wait to see the reactions that the audiences will have once they see the film.
Sagarika, on the other hand was attracted to the genre. She is a fan of psychological thrillers as most of them are immersive experiences and keeps you glued to the screen. As an audience member, you are secretly trying to put together the clues yourself and that makes you feel like you are part of the process, adds the actress.
While movies are skipping theaters for OTT releases, ‘Footfairy’ is hoping to create a new wave in Indian cinema and television by releasing the feature film in Indian television space first. ‘Footfairy’ will premier on &channel on October 24th.
