Pitta Kathalu – Netflix’s First Attempt to Woo Telugu Audience A Complete Mishap

Pitta Kathalu is the first Telugu Original on Netflix. Shruti Hassan, Eesha Rebba, Lakshmi Manchu, and Amala Paul starred in the four stories which are predominantly about bold women. The four stories were handled by highly talented directors, Tharun Bhascker, Nandini Reddy, Nag Ashwin, and Sankalp Reddy.

Netflix aggressively promoted it but then, all hype fizzled off after it released. Except for Tharun Bhascker’s Ramula, none of the remaining three managed to impress the audience. Interestingly, Ramula has a lesser-known cast when compared to the other three. Nandini Reddy’s Meera was okay but Nag Ashwin and Sankalp Reddy thoroughly disappointed. Surprisingly, Ramula has got thumbs up from the critics but even then failed to excite the audience. There is absolutely no buzz about it as well.

Pitta Kathalu is Netflix’s first serious attempt to woo the Telugu audience. It was made on a large canvass with big names and was also aggressively promoted. But even then, it could not cut the ice with the Telugu audience. Somehow, the quality could not match Netflix’s Tamil Original, Paava Kadaigal. It looks like the OTT major had to come up with something more interesting to impress the audience.
