It seems like Joy cannot catch a break at Pixar at all. The animated studio has dropped the official teaser trailer of Inside Out 2. And this time, we have a new emotion.
The first Inside Out film (2015) revolved around little Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and all the five key emotions in her head: Joy (Amy Poehler) Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), and Fear (Bill Hader).
The upcoming sequel will have a sixth emotion: Anxiety (voice by Maya Hawke). The actress is best known for her role as Robin in Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Riley moves to San Francisco from Minnesota with her family in the first film, forcing her to endure a severe emotional imbalance. At one point, she reaches close to losing her friends and family.
Inside Out was a huge critical and commercial hit. It earned over $850 million globally against a budget of $175 million. On Rotten Tomatoes, it is one of the highest-rated Pixar movies of all time, with a splendid score of 98% (based on 382 reviews).
Inside Out 2 was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo last year. Kelsey Mann replaces Pete Docter from the first film for helming duties this time. The sequel will arrive in theatres on June 14, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
